Do you know why I love Valentine’s day despite all the negative opinions that a lot of people have(mostly single ones of course)? Because even though when you love someone you are supposed to show them all the time how much you care about them, Valentine’s day is one amazing opportunity to celebrate your love one more time during the year. And, of course – it is a perfect excuse for travelling. And who doesn’t need a trip?
In this list with top romantic places for Valentine’s day, I’m sharing with you my favourite places where I fell in love with my life. And some that are for sure on my list of visiting. It will be updated regularly, so make sure you save it for later so you can come back and get even more inspired.
It will be against all universal laws if we don’t start this list of top Valentine’s day places with Paris, of course, mon amour! Paris is the city of love and it is a must to visit this place with your significant one. The sunsets there, the romantic streets and the vibe that you can feel from every corner are the tip of the fairytale that can make your getaway the best you’ve ever had.
London, United Kingdom
Another favourite place of mine – London. With its royal vibe and the feeling of you being the most special being in the world, London is perfect for long walks and tons of photos. For cosy nights and taking time to enjoy yourselves fully.
This is my idea of romantic getaway – spending time with your significant one from spa to spa and the whole of your attention to be for the other. Budapest is full of different sightseeing places that are amazing for photos but the thermal baths they have are one of a kind. And for the middle of February, this is a perfect choice! Especially if you come from a cold winter country as I do.
I can come back to Bali again and again and it won’t be enough for me. Why am I including it in the list of top Valentine’s day places? Except because it is so beautiful, calm and you can take your time to appreciate your life and your partner? Well, there is this vibe that I haven’t felt anywhere in the world and it makes me come back and bring everyone special to me here. Bali is a way of life and once you feel it there is no going back. Here you can come close to nature, you can find more of yourself and if you are able to share these realizations with your lover – there is no better choice for Valentine’s day, believe me. Even if you can’t come on this holiday make sure you include Bali in your list, it is totally worth it!
Dubai is another world. And it is a must for a romantic getaway! Here you enter one mindblowing fairytale of huge buildings and the feeling of royalty surrounded by endless deserts and wealth in such quantities you’ve never seen before. Just make sure you follow their customs and requirements – you are not allowed to show intimacy and to have sex if you are not married. The more tourist-oriented hotels are ok with that. Also lately the more popular Dubai gets the less they care but make sure you are respectful in public. Although this sounds like a huge minus and a place that is anything but romantic for me this is the perfect destination to train all of your senses with love and appreciation towards your half. Imagine the desire you will get when you know it is not ok for you to kiss and to touch in public, imagine the need and the feeling as if you just started dating. What a gift, right?
The list of top Valentine’s day places continues with one huge topic of Romance and Italy. Because if you ask me they are pure synonyms.
Our first stop is of course Venice. Here you can take a romantic gondola ride for two and enjoy the whole city from a totally different point of view. You can watch the sunset on St Mark’s Square or view the whole city from the Campanile(the photo above was taken there). There are tons of small streets and bridges that make you feel as if you are in a small fairytale of your own. A big must for a romantic getaway.
If you have your own Romeo or Juliette you just have to bring them here so both of you can feel the romantic vibe of this place full of love. Verona is one of the most romantic cities in the whole world because of Shakespeare’s poem. Although the characters in it are fictional and have nothing to do with Verona, the whole world come here to touch the statue of Juliette and to see her balcony. Why not of course – with its fairytale architecture and small streets Verona makes you want to fall in love and stay here forever.
Rome is our next stop of top Valentine’s day places. The climate here is warmer so during February it will be one pleasant experience. Also, there won’t be tons of tourists and you will be able to enjoy most of the places here without people pushing you from side to side. Here you dive in a historical place where you can go back in time and feel this different life of the roman empire. The colosseum and the hugeness of it make you realize how small we are. And how little time we have here. So we have to appreciate every moment with the people we love. There are tons of places where you can take magnificent photos, where you can go for a walk or sit at a restaurant to enjoy one another.
Amalfi Coast, Italy
Amalfi coast is a bonus one that I’m advising you to save for springtime. You will appreciate it more then and will see the beauty of blooming Italy. Way different than Rome and Verona, Positano and Amalfi will hug you with lemon scent and waves of happiness – people here are full of life and the views you can enjoy are magnificent! Here you can also visit Atrani, Salerno, Sorrento, Ravello and so many more. If you love to travel and have more time – come here and you won’t regret it.
And this is it – my list of top Valentine’s day places full of romance and love magic. But if we have to be honest every place can be romantic if you are with the right person.
